Ten years ago I released my first ever record on Folkwit Records as The Sound of Bailey. It was essentially a collection of songs I had written at that point, recorded in their simplest acoustic form. I began immediately writing and recording demos for the follow up album, which again I was going to record with my best friend Nick Crofts in his bedroom studio in London. It was during the first few sessions that we began to form what later became The Title Sequence, and spent the following years pursuing this new sound and making the Straight to Video EP, and debut album Stills, as well as performing many live shows and remixing other artists, and generally having a really good time.
Apart from a few songs that ended up as TTS tracks, most of the planned second album has remained unheard on demos tapes for the last ten years. So in many ways this is the demo version of the second album that was never made.
Most of the tracks here were recorded in 2005 at home on a Tascam reel to reel 8-track, with a few songs selected from the many cassette dictaphone tapes and mini disc recordings made over the following few years. Two unreleased recordings that me and Nick made are also included called, Pop-Up Song and Jigsaw Days.
The rest of this collection is of course made in the lo-fi tradition of bedroom demos, so a fair amount of tape hiss and other imperfections are present, but if you don’t mind that, hopefully you will find a few things to enjoy on this album of rediscovered songs and sounds.
Thank you very much for listening
